SOCAN — Canada’s performance rights organization — serves music creators, publishers, and visual artists by managing licensing, royalty collection, and distribution both nationally and worldwide. The SOCAN Awards are one of the organization’s most high-profile annual events, celebrating top talent across the Canadian music landscape. In 2020, SOCAN made the decision to bring development of the SOCAN Awards website in-house for greater flexibility, brand control, and future scalability.

Working under an employment contract, I collaborated closely with SOCAN’s internal creative and communications teams to implement their design vision using clean, responsive web architecture. I developed the full awards site from scratch, ensuring SOCAN retained full ownership and control of all assets moving forward — a critical priority for their internal strategy.

The new SOCAN Awards site delivered a reliable, elegant platform to support the organization’s highest-profile annual celebration, while empowering their in-house teams with future-ready infrastructure and autonomy. The project served as a model for future internal digital initiatives at SOCAN.
